These are all "legal" routes for mountain bikes, planned with the co-operation of the NT, ENPA and landowners.
LEG 1. About 15 miles or 2 hours. Wheddon Cross to Winsford.
A road climb to Dunkery Beacon. Across the common to the rocky descent of Stone Lane, then down to the River Exe, arriving at Winsford.
LEG 2. Optional Long Route loop. 9 miles or 1.75 hours. Across fields to the Exe. Then hard but ridable climb to Winsford Hill. Descent to Winsford needs care with big dropoffs at Yellowcombe Lane.
ExEx 2008 Leg3
LEG 3. The return leg. 9 miles or 1.75 hours. A hard road climb takes you to the fast lanes to Luckwell Bridge. Then to Dunkery Bridge and down Mansley Combe to Draper's Way and back to Wheddon Cross.
