Introduction

A short and not particular difficult walk from Tideswell, and down into Miller's Dale, ideal for a lazy afternoon, with a stop at the Angler's Rest

Conditions

Quiet roads, and farm tracks

Detailed description

Follow the road from Tideswell towards Hargateward. Turn off the road onto a rough farm track at the crossroads by Monksdale House.

Take the track, which can be muddy, towards the south. The track desends steeply into Millers Dale. After passing by the Angler's Rest pub follow the quiet road until you reach the end of Tideswell Dale, and turn left to follow the path up the steep sided valley. In spring and summer the meadows contain many flowers.

After the toilets follow the path by the road, and then either follow the pavement alongside the Tideswell road, or use the permissive path on the right hand side of the road. Keep on going and you'l shortly arrive in Tideswell.

Narrative

A pleasant walk amid the remains of some unseasonalbly late snows at Easter. Although the weather was cold, and snow still on the ground, it was nice enough to site outside the Angler's Rest of a pleasant pint.
