A multi-terrain ride, suitable for beginner mountain biker riders and cyclo cross bikes. The Phoenix Trail section of the ride is ideal as a family ride.
A mixture of tarmac, gravel trails, grassy tracks and bridleways. Good compact gravel on the Phoenix Trail. Bridleways after Towersey, Ilmer can have thick mud in the damp. Icknield way can be slippery in the wet due to clay surfaces.

Care when crossing the busy A4010 road just before Monks Risborough and Princes Risborough
The first part of the route is easy to follow as it is route 57 of the National Cycle Network. After Thame, aim for Towersey and coninue straight on to get onto the bridleway. Once in the farmer's field aim diagonally towards village of Ilmer. From Ilmer go straight on through the village, paasing under the railway line and crossing the main A road to reach the bridleway opposite. Follow this to reach the village of Owlswick. From there follow the signs for Monks Risborough and then back to Princes Risborough via the Icknield Way.
