Corrour to Dalwhinnie
26/02/2011 @ 12:08
Just returned from a 3 day trip for Corrour to Dalwhinnie and appreciated your comments on part of the route. We encountered deep snow (23.2.11) at the coll before the descent into Bealach Dubh - a mix of falling knee-deep into the snow or groin-deep with your foot ending up in a stream - this all in darkness as we were running late!. All rivers in spate so also had plenty of duckings. And one final treat, the track at Loch Pattack was flooded so had to negotiate some tricky peat-hags. But with temperature around 7C (inside and outside Culra bothy) there was no great hardship.

Loved your essay - felt I was there. Also loved your honesty as we have all made mistakes of navigation and judgement. It is over 20 years since my visit to Ben Alder but the conditions were quite different and I ended up with very bad sun burn. I am planning a winter return, possibly taking in Culra and Ben Alder Cottage.
