Introduction
A varied walk with some stunning views despite modest height
Conditions
Deep snow
Hazards and warnings
Part way up the initial climb is a little rock band that requires care in snow and ice to scramble up.
Detailed description
A fantastic mid level walk for days when the tops are hidden in cloud or battered by strong winds. The initial climb is long and steep so make sure not to overdress at the beginning.
Narrative
We had seen the trees of Whinlatter Forest caked in snow from earlier walks in the Newlands Valley and hoped there was a lot of snow in the forest and we were not disappointed. In fact people werre out in force, not just walkers but skiers and even people snow-shoeing.
