Introduction

Conditions
The Irish Sea can be hazardous!
Hazards and warnings
Not mandatory, but some of the channels around the head make the trip a bit more interesting.
Detailed description
The Irish Sea Kayaking Association do this run on a regular basis and they welcome visitors. They also have some spare kayaks and gear for beginners or visitors. See there bulletin board for the days and times they go out: www.irishseakayakingassociation.org
In summer, this paddle can be done after work. ISKA normally go out on a Wednesday evening at 6pm, back by 10pm.
This is a very good paddle for beginners or people unfamiliar with the Irish Sea. It does require a fair amount of fitness and arm strength as it is a 4 hour paddle, possible against the wind or tide on the way out or back.
It is fairly safe as you are hugging the coast the whole way, allowing emergency exit, if required.
